Twin Towers II

Lopez twinsStanford LogoAnother article about the twins that will be balling for Stanford next year. Hopefully Trent Johnson figures out how to uses these guys effectively and starts another magical string of NCAA appearances coupled with high national rankings.

If he doesn’t, Trent Johnson should go and the Mike Montgomery experiment for the Golden State Warriors should end. That would commence the second stage of a great chapter in Stanford Basketball.

Peace out.

The Lakers made it

Lakers Suns

I had my doubts, but the Lakers actually pulled out a play-off caliber season. They did it by winning 11 of the last 14 which is a nice run right before the play-offs begin. There must be some method to Phil Jackson’s madness, because I didn’t think this club had it in them to gon on an 11 out of 14 stretch. Now they have to play the Phoenix Suns who they just can’t seem to beat. Their lone win in the last 2 years coming this past Sunday when Phoenix rested their best players. Other than Kobe and Deveon George there isn’t much play-off experience on this team. It’ll be interesting to see how they execute in the play-offs since so many times during the regular season the team just choked in those late game pressure situations (remember up by 4 with less than 30 seconds to go and *losing* to Sacramento).

So bring on the play-offs!!!

Eric Gagné: Game Over

Filed under: Dodgers, Baseball, Sports — Javi @ 11:04 am

Everyone knows that all good things must come to an end. Sadly, for Monsieur Eric Gagné his hockey mentality of willing his body to do as he wants has caught up with him and it appears his season (and potentially career) are over. It all started with an innocent game of pepper in the Spring of 2005. Gagné sprains a knee ligament, rushes back and alters his mechanics to compensate for the aforementioned knee ligament, which leads to an elbow sprain that requires elbow surgery. If you needed proof that the knee bone is connected to the elbow bone, Gagné just served it up on a platter.

The probable end of the most legendary relief pitcher in Dodgers history made me want to compose some witty prose on the subject, but then I read Jon Weissman’s post on the same subject and realized I can’t do it the justice he has. So instead of reading my half hearted attempt at mourning the probable end of Gagné’s Dodger/baseball career, I’ll point you to Jon’s article.

One last message for Mr. Game Over:

M. Eric Gagné : La ville de Los Angeles vous aime et souhaite un rétablissement sain.
