Phoenix owns L.A. for a night
The Suns took advantage of a less then inspired Lakers squad to post a convincing 114-97 butt-kicking last night at the former America West Arena. At the same time just down the road, the Dodgers were blowing another big lead at the former Bank One Ballpark. This time Odalis Perez couldn’t hold a 6-0 lead and allow the Arizona Diamondbacks to come back and win the game 10-8.
For at least one night, the Phoenix teams were able to defend their home turf against the city Phoenix seems to wanna emulate (by becoming one big sprawling megalopolis with suburbs extending forever). There’s still this Thursday, and by then the Phoenix should be put in their proper place. Staying inside their air-conditioned houses and watering the rocks in their front lawn.

Are they starting to look alike yet? When my parents moved to Phoenix, the few people I knew that lived in AZ all said, “You’ll like Phoenix, it’s trying to be like LA.” I never really knew what that meant, but I guess I see some vague similarities. They both have downtowns with tall buildings. At this point I’m just typing so that I have enough text to force WordPress to create a nice separation between this post and the one displayed directly underneath it. Without it, the pictures of the skyline bleed onto the section below the post and it just doesn’t look cool. That’s one thing WordPress should probably fix.
Peace Out.
