Just a matter of time

They're Done

(FYI: Picture courtesy of DodgerBlues)

So anyone that knows anything about baseball knew that once the Padress left town the Dodgers would need a minimum of 5 of 6 games against the doormats the Dodgers were facing before going on the road. Instead the Ddogers split the 6 and now find themselves on the outside looking in as the final week of the season commences. I love the Dodgers and nothing brings me more joy to me as a sports fanatic than the Dodgers doing well. But when you can’t hold a 3 run lead against a last place team and get beaten 2 out of 3 by another team that hasn’t seen .500 since before Barry Bonds knew what a steroid was, you don’t deserve post season play. Now I just wonder how many losers wasted time this morning over-paying for the bookmarks that went on sale at Dodger Stadium and Dodgers.com.

Because with 6 games to go in the season, we all know what the state of 2006 Dodgers is:

The bums are in the ambulance with a faint pulse after going through the windshield during a head-on collision while putzing around on the freeway.

In other words, it’s only a matter of time before someone pronounces a time of death.

Peace Out.

Speechless

Nomar Walkoff

In case you missed the action, re-live it here.

Read what some people who write about sports are saying about last night’s amazing game. (FYI: Tomko has temporarily redeemed himself, but I nearly kicked some furniture when he gave up a lead-off double)

Or just read other fans’ reaction on DodgerThoughts.

All in all, I don’t remember being this excited after a Dodgers game since the Gibson HR in Game 1 of the ‘88 World Series. (FYI, walk-off Grand Slam to clinch the division against the Giants comes a very close second to last night, but since if the Dodgers didn’t win last night’s game, the emotional drain would’ve probably doomed the rest of the season-last night’s feat was more astonishing.)

I’m not sure my wife realized what a Dodger fanatic I am until last night (let’s face it, the bums have given very few reasons to be very happy since I met my wife so there haven’t been many chances for me to become giddy like a little school boy). As I nearly woke up the baby after Nomar’s dinger last night, she may finally realize it.

Peace out.

PS It still feels like a dream.

Brett Tomko - Mission Accomplished.

Filed under: Dodgers, Baseball, Sports — Javi @ 1:27 pm

We all knew there was something fishy when all these ex-Giants started showing up in Dodger uniforms this spring. Now we have confirmation that there was at least one guy still working for the Barry’s boys from the North. How else can you explain Tomko’s complete and utter uselessness. On Tuesday, he loads the bases when the Dodgers have a 2 run lead. Grady pulled him that day and unfortunately Broxton the Wonder Kid couldn’t keep all of Tomko’s men from scoring. Today, Little put him in there with a 3 run lead and Tomko proceeds to get into another jam. Instead of pulling him, Little tries to let Tomko work out of it and Tomko proceeds to give up 4 runs. Tomko can now comfortably accept his paycheck from the Giants front office since he has officially screwed the Dodgers just like all die-hard Giants like to.

All I know is that if Little actually tries bringing Tomko in against the Padres over the weekend, then both of ‘em should be sent packing back to where they came from.

If only I had some mad PhotoShop skillz like our friend over at DodgerBlues, I’d come up with some incriminating photo of Little that would surely be in Tomko’s possession. How else can you explain Little using Tomko? Maybe Little should do something useful and go change his Depends instead of throwing the same useless pitchers out there for middle relief.

Argh!!! Being a Dodger fan is the most frustrting thing in the world.

Peace Out.

Houston becoming Stanford of the Southwest

Filed under: Stanford, Basketball, Sports — Javi @ 12:47 pm

As I lamented at how pathetic the Lakers outside shooting was last season and wondered how miserable it will probably continue to be, I was reminded of a free agent former Stanford man that was a sharp shooter. After doing a Google search for Jacobsen, I came across this story in the USA Today.

Seems Jeff Van Gundy has taken a liking to former Stanford players. Haryasz is sure to be a sparring partner for Yao, Jacobsen should be able to get lots of shots from the outside and show off that shooting touch all Stanford basketball fans become so familiar with.

So here’s to all current and former Stanford fans rooting for our old boys as they tend to their trade in the vast humid land known as Texas. I certainly hope Haryasz has a better career than the latest set of tall, lanky, and white guys that left the farm for the NBA. Anyone remember Tim Young? I think he did a stint on the Warriors bench and was never heard from again. That leaves Curtis Borchardt who was unceremoniously dumped by the Celtics after being acquired in a trade. Haryasz carries the torch for tall, lanky, white guys from Stanford and he can seemingly only make it go higher!!!

Peace Out.
